Vox Leader Santiago Abascal to Hold Public Rally in Estepona Ahead of November Elections

Santiago Abascal, the leader of the far-right Vox party, is set to host a significant public rally in Estepona this Sunday, October 11, in preparation for Spain’s general elections on November 29.

The event will take place at 6 PM at the Sol Marbella Estepona Atalaya Park hotel, marking the first major political rally in the Malaga province during the pre-election campaign period. Abascal is expected to be joined by Manuel Gavira, Vox’s Andalucía leader and second vice-president of the Junta de Andalucía.

Andalucía was selected for this rally due to its status as the region with the most MPs, totaling 60, and because Vox has recently established a governmental alliance with the conservative Partido Popular (PP). Polling indicates a potential repeat of this coalition in Madrid following the upcoming elections.

According to Estepona town hall, foreign nationals constituted over 25% of its 72,137 registered residents as of 2019, with British citizens forming the largest group at 4,615.

This rally coincides with Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez’s own pre-election event in Dos Hermanas, Seville, taking place just a day prior. Additionally, Sunday marks the eve of Spain’s national day on October 12, and Abascal has not yet confirmed his attendance at the military parade and royal reception, which he opted out of last year.
