From October 9 to 11, Estepona will host an array of cultural activities including theater, concerts, workshops, an escape room, and a trampoline park, catering to residents and visitors alike. Notable performances will feature the band Seguridad Social, actor El Brujo, and soprano Klaudya.
Macarena Diánez, the local councilor for Culture and Festivals, announced the upcoming edition of ‘Estepona Vive sus Calles en Otoño’ last week. The event aims to bring together cultural and leisure activities across various locations in the city.
The festivities will kick off at 7:00 PM with a series of four micro-theater performances, allowing audiences to experience intimate theater. These will take place at Plaza San Francisco (7:00 PM), Casa de las Tejerinas (7:30 PM), Plaza Blas Infante (8:00 PM), and Paseíllo-Calle Real (8:30 PM).
At 7:30 PM, the Cultural Center Mirador del Carmen will feature an Autumn Concert by the international choir ‘Love to Sing,’ which has been performing since 2017 under the direction of Shirley Helleur. They will present popular movie and musical pieces to benefit the Emaús Social Dining Room, with tickets priced at 10 euros. Reservations can be made via phone or at The Bookshop in Sabinillas, subject to availability.
At 8:00 PM, guitarist and singer Steven Anderton will perform at Plaza Casa Cañada, near the Castillo de San Luis, covering classics from Dire Straits, Santana, and Bruce Springsteen. The evening will conclude with a flamenco show titled ‘Magia Andaluza’ at the Parque Botánico Orquidario at 9:00 PM, featuring Algeciras guitarist Salvador Andrades.
The Cultural Center Padre Manuel will host the ‘Universo Mágico’ Escape Room from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, which includes a one-hour session of themed board games. Groups of eight can register online, but this activity is not suitable for non-magic enthusiasts.
A gymkhana will commence at 7:00 PM from Plaza Antonia Guerrero, with registrations starting at 6:00 PM.
The weekend will also feature the I Estepona Jardín Costa del Sol Marathon, beginning at 8:15 AM. This limited ‘Boutique Marathon’ allows for 2,000 runners and includes the V Half Marathon, starting from the Municipal Athletics Stadium. Registrations are available at maratoncostadelsol.com.
Children can enjoy the City Jump trampoline park at the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The town hall has allocated 1,200 invitations for Sunday, which can be picked up at the Cultural Center Padre Manuel from October 5 to 7, with a limit of one hour per family for 150 participants at each session.
At 8:00 PM, the Teatro Auditorio Felipe VI will host Malaga soprano Klaudya in her performance ‘Renacer’, a tribute to resilience. Klaudya, who won this year’s TVE competition ‘Aria: Locos por la Ópera’, will showcase a mix of opera, Spanish songs, and zarzuela, accompanied by the Ensemble So Perfect and guest artist Iris Oboe. Invitations will be available for download starting October 5 at 11:00 AM on teatroestepona.com, limited to two per person without handling fees.
The weekend will culminate at 9:00 PM in Plaza del Reloj, where Ayamonte singer Juan Santamaría will perform ‘Coplas que van y vienen’, honoring Carlos Cano, a figure synonymous with traditional Andalusian music.
