Age Concern Estepona is urgently requesting donations of mobility equipment as it faces a critical shortage of wheelchairs for vulnerable seniors in the community. The charity emphasizes that an unused wheelchair can significantly enhance the independence and quality of life for those in need.
Residents are encouraged to contribute any manual wheelchairs, transport chairs, or other mobility aids that they no longer use, provided they are in good working condition. According to the charity, ‘Your donation will directly restore independence and dignity to a local senior in need.’
Donations can be delivered to Age Concern’s facility located at Avenida Valencia 9 in Estepona, open from Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 2 pm. For those unable to transport their equipment, the charity offers a collection service in Estepona and Manilva; donors can arrange this by calling +34 951 74 10 74 or emailing info@acestepona.info.
In addition to accepting mobility aids, Age Concern Estepona and Manilva operates a loan service that includes wheelchairs, walking frames, and bathroom aids, assisting individuals in maintaining their mobility and independence. The organization is volunteer-run and provides various services, including companionship, assistance with S1 forms, and advice on pensions and benefits, specifically tailored for English-speaking residents navigating life in Spain.
Contributions to the charity’s shop also support its community services and food bank. Those without mobility equipment can still help by donating clothing or household items. Community members are encouraged to share this appeal with friends and local groups to help reach potential donors.
