The Mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, convened the Local Volunteer Council today to discuss the needs and proposals of non-profit organizations operating within the city.
During the meeting, representatives were informed about the financial allocations included in the municipal budget for 2027, aimed at providing direct aid to charitable entities in Estepona. The mayor emphasized that the town’s financial support will continue to focus on social issues, prioritizing assistance for the most vulnerable populations.
García Urbano expressed gratitude to the various associations for their efforts in supporting the community’s vulnerable individuals, noting that municipal aid plays a crucial role in sustaining these essential programs.
He also assured that protecting those in need will remain a key goal for the local government, with the possibility of increasing funding for social programs in the 2027 budget if necessary.
Among the organizations set to receive support in 2027 are: the Fundación para el Apoyo de Planes de Vida de Personas con Discapacidad (APRONA), Cáritas Diocesana (from various local parishes), Asociación de Discapacitados de Estepona (ASDIES), and several others dedicated to various causes including health, social welfare, and cultural activities.
Additionally, the mayor mentioned the municipality’s ongoing support in other areas, such as collaborating in solidarity events organized by these groups and providing free access to municipal facilities for charitable events, along with financial assistance.
The town hall also continues to fund services like Teleassistance and Home Help, as well as covering routine operational costs for facilities such as the Virgen del Carmen Elderly Residence and the Emaús Social Dining Hall.
