Estepona Walking Football Club is actively recruiting men aged between 50 and 70 who are interested in returning to the game. Since its inception in April, the club has created an inviting environment for local men to re-engage with football in a format tailored specifically for their age group.

The club was established to encourage healthy living, foster social connections, and promote active lifestyles among older adults. Currently, Estepona WFC boasts two teams: an Over-50s squad and an Over-60s squad, both of which achieved impressive victories in their inaugural matches shortly after their first training session in July.

Walking football eliminates the high-impact elements of traditional football, such as sprinting and tackling, making it a more accessible option for older players. This slower-paced, tactical version of the sport offers a substantial workout while prioritizing enjoyment, fitness, and camaraderie over physical intensity. Players of all skill levels are welcome, so those who may feel out of shape or rusty should not hesitate to join.

Starting in September, both teams will move to a new home ground in Cancelada and compete in the Avalon League against various teams from the region. Regular participation in sports is known to enhance fitness, reduce feelings of isolation, and improve mental health as individuals age. Estepona WFC emphasizes social interaction as a core component of its mission, ensuring that forming new friendships and enjoying time outdoors is just as important as winning matches, with opportunities for post-game camaraderie over drinks.

Men aged 50 to 70 who are eager to reconnect with the sport are encouraged to reach out to organizer James at +44 7787 808479 or 691 901976, or through the contact form available on the Estepona WFC website or via WhatsApp. No previous experience is necessary—just a positive attitude and a willingness to participate.
