Eleven companies have submitted proposals to take over the management of Estepona’s marina under a 30-year concession, which includes a minimum investment of €10 million aimed at modernizing the facilities.

The Junta de Andalucía is currently in the process of evaluating these bids for the nautical-recreational area of the port, as part of a broader strategy to enhance the region’s port services. Mario Muñoz-Atanet, the regional Minister of Development and Mobility, emphasized that renewing the marina’s concession marks a significant step in the modernization of Andalusian ports.

This initiative is part of a dual strategy that has mobilized €150 million since 2019, focusing on direct investments in ports and renewing port concessions. Muñoz-Atanet noted that public-private partnerships are crucial for attracting new investments and improving services while ensuring efficient use of the public port domain.

Estepona’s marina covers an area of 21,358 square meters on land and 35,978 square meters of water. The facilities include a 425-meter-long riverside dock with seven alignments, along with eight pontoons totaling 740 meters in length. The marina accommodates 447 berths for boats ranging from 6 to 35 meters in length and includes 7,000 square meters of constructed space, which houses commercial premises, a control tower, restrooms, and parking for 272 vehicles.

The strategic plan for 2026-2030 aims to optimize resources and establish modern competitive infrastructures. The Junta’s vision is to enhance the ports’ roles as engines of economic, social, and territorial development, encouraging private sector involvement in port infrastructure and services.
